Plant Heritage- Surrey Group welcome all for our first propagation workshop to take place at our partner Stud Nursery at Hampton Court.

The morning is open to all adults and accompanied children who wish to learn the magic which is propagation - the ability to crate plants for free!

The morning will be led by three of our top propagators and will cover, division of herbaceous perennials, hardwood and greenwood cuttings, seed sowing, pricking out and care of seedlings.

The propagation team will be able to give the sort of ‘hands on’ advice and instruction that you can never find in books or online and will be available to answer your horticultural questions during the course of the morning.

The course will be led by: -

David Ford, Chair of Surrey Group Plant heritage and Vice-Chair of the RHS Tender Ornamental Plant Committee

Claire Davitt, RHS Level 2 Certified and currently working for the RHS as a Community Outreach Advisor based at Wisley.

Wendy Bentall – Vice-Chair of Surrey Group Plant heritage and propagator extraordinaire!  You may have obtained plants from Wendy’s stall outside her house in Chobham, Surrey where she propagates quite literally thousands of plants a year.

Also available during the morning: -

Eloise Curtis – RHS Graduate and currently in charge of Horticultural Development at Stud Nursery.

So you will be in very capable and experienced hands for the morning!

We will be demonstrating propagation of:-

Hosta (by division)

Hydrangea (by hardwood cutting)

Pelargonium (by softwood cutting)

Hollyhocks (Alcea rosea) – from seed

Lophospermum erubescens (Creeping Gloxinia) – from seed

Aeonium (by hardwood cutting)

Hedychium (by division)

Plus a range of other plants as time allows

PLEASE BRING : - a plant tray to take home your plants, secateurs and gardening gloves

Growing medium and pots will be supplied.

Do take advantage of this special offer.  This is the first time this course is being run at Stud Nursery and is being run at special offer prices

We are not able to park many cars outside the nursery itself but Hampton Court Palace Golf Club have very kindly offered us the use of their car park.

To get to the Golf Club enter by the same gate as if heading to the Stud, (Kingston Gate) but instead of veering right, you stay left. A rough map to the Golf Club is included below.

It is a 3 minute drive from the Golf Club to Stud Nursery but will probably be a 15 min walk from the car park to the Stud, although through the park!  We will organise a car shuttle for anybody who require some help getting from the Golf Club.

And a BIG 'Thank you' to Eloise and Stud Nursery from all of us for hosting this event. If you would like to know more about Balance and their work at Stud Nursery please follow this link : - Horticultural Services (balancesupport.org.uk)
