A talk about growing plants from your own collected seed, from seed harvesting, through cleaning, storage and sowing including overcoming seed dormancy.

David has 40 years experience of propagating garden plants commercially, particularly woody plants from seed. Starting at Hillier Nurseries for 9 years, the last 5 of which he headed up the Seed Propagation Department, which
involved growing a very wide range of trees and shrubs in both field and glasshouse. In 1988 he started and managed Fromefield Nurseries up until 2022, growing a range of garden plants including perennials. He now works
for Hortus Loci as their Head of Propagation. With Kevin Hobbs, he is co-author of The Story of Trees : And How They Changed The Way We Live. Laurence King Publishing, 2020.
