Linum monogynum
Description:
Flowering plant native to New Zealand, related to the Northern Hemisphere true flaxes. Found in low mountain areas, as well as sand dunes and rocky spots along the coast where its salt and wind tolerance enable survival.
This often short lived perennial, growing to heights of 40cm, flowers late spring into summer. It has prolific white flowers, comprised of overlapping petals, and greyish-green spear shaped leaves. Named for having both male and female organs on the same plant.
