Description:
Native across a wide region in central South America, this cactus grows in on sandy soils in grassland to forested environments. It is found in lower elevations (0-500m). Globular to column shaped, mature individuals can reach up to 80cm in height. The areoles have a small amount of grey-white wool, with yellow-brown spines that fade with age. It has white flowers with a slender throat. A summer grower, it is not difficult in cultivation and quite cold-hardy (-7°C) if kept dry.
