Plant Guardians

Enkianthus campanulatus ‘Hollandia’

Synonym: Enkianthus campanulatus ‘Hollandia Red’

Description:

Thought to be a Dutch introduction, research is ongoing to trace the exact origins. Our earliest known date for this cultivar is from a 1987 supplier listing in the US.  It was described in 2002 as ‘Hollandia Red’ in Harrison Flint’s Flowering Trees and Shrubs, and in the UK in a 2004 listing from Junker’s Nursery.

The flowers are often described as cream with heavy pink-red venation, which makes them appear predominantly red at first glance.
