Plant Guardians

Silene dioica ‘Stella’

Description:

This plant has its origins in Hexham, from Dr Marie Addyman, a plant historian whose work looks at the history, names and uses of some of our wild and garden plants. Our Plant Guardian informs us that he dark centre is supposedly due to "smut", a fungal pathogen. It appears to have been first offered for sale in 2012 by Chipchase Castle Nursery, also in Hexham operated by Joyce Hunt & Alison Jones.
