Description:
Named for the village of Langport, Somerset where Kelways nursery is based. The Langport series of intermediate bearded iris were initiated by John Lloyd, working at Kelways since the late 1950s, he later went on to purchase the business from his father. Kelways has seen several changes in ownership since establishment in 1851 by James Kelway. John Lloyd is said to have bred 60 Langport cultivars, with ‘Langport Chapter’ being part of the series named with reference to ecclesiastical terms.
