Forsythia ovata ‘French's Florence’


Description:

Originated as a seedling of Forsythia ovata, at French’s Nursery, N.H. USA from seeds obtained at Arnold Arboretum in the 1920’s. Noted by Florence K. French when it first flowered in 1930. It was commercially introduced Mr. Kendall W. French in 1940. Broad upright shrub, 1.2 -1.5 m high with flowers smaller and lighter than those of the species. The flower buds of this cultivar are very resistant to severe frost.
