Description:
Stephen Haw (The New Plantsman Vol 8 Dec 2001) recommends the division of Paeonia delavayi into two varieties and several formas to address the distinctive variation to be found within the species. Haw includes those with orange or yellow petals under P. d. var. angustiloba f. trollioides with acknowledgment of synonyms P. trollioides Stapf ex Stern; P. potaninii var. trollioides (Stapf ex Stern) Stern; P. × francheti Halda.
