Rosa davidii var. elongata ‘Glaucescens’

Synonyms: Rosa macrophylla ‘Glaucescens’, Rosa macrophylla subsp. glaucescens

Description:
Introduced by George Forrest in 1917. The seeds were collected by Forrest on the Mekong-Salween divide, N.W. Yunnan. Distributed initially as R. macrophylla, the original field specimen was subsequently identified as R. davidii var. elongata by J.T.P. Byhouwer of the Netherlands and published in his 1928 article 'Roses of Yunnan' within 'Journal of the Arnold Arboretum'. Hilliers selected and raised this glaucous form from the original introduction of seed.
