Plant Guardians

Kniphofia ‘Modesta’

Description:

Described by previous National Collection holder Jane Taylor in her survey of 1985 (The Plantsman, pp. 129-160.) as 'Exquisite little cream and coral spikes on 60cm (24in.) stems. July-August. Not to be confused with K. modesta Bak., but the present plant is perhaps a hybrid of this; Perry's, between the wars, were offering 'Modesta Hybrid', 'a dwarf growing variety, dainty spikes of creamy white flowers, upper half of flower coral red'.
