Cecilia Bufton has enjoyed a successful business career over 30 years, working in a range of health and social care companies. Her experience in strategic marketing and external relations is valuable in helping us to promote our cause. Cecilia also has knowledge of Charity Commission guidance, safeguarding funds, overseeing policy and organisational strategy.
Vice Chair
Jim Marshall has gardened all his life, spending 25 years working for the National Trust as a gardens advisor. With his wife Sarah Cook they hold 3 National Collections. He has regularly exhibited his carnations at Hampton Court, winning several gold medals. He is an active member and past chairman of the Suffolk group and a member of the RHS Herbaceous Plant Committee.
Treasurer
Gareth Morgan has worked in the charity sector for 18 years in senior finance roles. He has also worked in senior executive roles responsible for Finance, IT, HR, risk, legal and governance and property and procurement. In his spare time Gareth is developing a crazy hillside garden making it as wildlife friendly as possible.
Emma Crawforth has worked in gardening media for over ten years, previously working as a gardener. Her foundation degree in horticulture and Kew diploma helped her fulfil her current role as gardening editor for Gardeners’ World magazine. She loves gardening and plants and is passionate about conserving the diversity of plants.
Kavita Kapoor is a multi-award-winning technologist, passionate about education and emerging technology. Her executive career has spanned large-scale organisations to start-ups. Kavita dedicates time to growing a wide range of edible plants in her spare time.
Claire Farrer, a former GP of 30 years who co-holds a shared National Plant Collection of Noel Burr’s famed daffodils and is currently studying an MSc in Biodiversity and Conservation at Kew and Queen Mary University.
Sally Flatman, an experienced ex. BBC radio producer, brings her storytelling expertise to Plant Heritage. She now produces and presents the "Our Plant Stories" podcast, sharing the wonders of plants through engaging narratives.
John Humphreys, with a background in the agricultural industry and a lifelong passion for gardening, was influenced by a relative who was Head Gardener at Cefn Park, Wrexham. He is active member of Plant Heritage’s Yorkshire Group.
Jasmine Jahromi brings nearly 15 years of experience in the humanitarian sector, where she worked on sustainable agriculture and gardening initiatives to improve nutrition and wellbeing. She continues to nurture her own urban garden in London.
David Mathers, with 35 years’ experience in banking and finance, is Vice Chair of the RHS Orchid Expert Group and co-founder of The Mathers Foundation. The Foundation holds five National Plant Collections and was awarded the 2024 Brickell Award for its outstanding ex situ conservation work.
Sir Roderick Newton has been collecting old-fashioned daffodils, bearded irises, pelargoniums, and cymbidiums for over 50 years, is now currently developing a National Plant Collection of pre-1950 bearded irises.
Della Weight, with over 30 years in fundraising and strategic planning brings her wealth of experience of supporting charities worldwide to Plant Heritage. Outside of work, she is restoring her own garden to its original layout.
